Science activity: food dyes for 7-12
Students will make dyes from beets and blueberries. They will observe how temperature affects the intensity of the dyes.
This ready-to-use kit can be used in foods classes and science classes. The kit contains:
- Teacher guide with information to do the experiment and suggestions to expand learning with your students.
- Student workbook with experiment, key words and record sheets.
Students will:
- Learn about thermal energy and diffusion.
- Observe how dyes can be made from foods.
- See how the colour of foods can be changed when food dyes are added.
